The Brazilian Creamy Limeade (known in Brazil as Limonada Suíça) is an incredibly refreshing and easy-to-make drink. It’s perfect for a sunny day, as an accompaniment to a casual lunch, or simply enjoyed with your favorite appetizers.
Ingredients for Brazilian Creamy Limeade:
- Ice cubes, to taste;
- 1 liter (approx. 4 cups) club soda or sparkling water;
- 4 to 5 Persian limes (depending on size);
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk.
How to make Brazilian Creamy Limeade:
- Wash the limes thoroughly. Cut each lime into quarters, removing the white pith in the center and any seeds to prevent bitterness.
- Place the limes in a blender with 1 cup of the sparkling water. Pulse for about 30 seconds.
- Strain the mixture to remove the solids. Return the liquid to the blender and add the remaining sparkling water, sweetened condensed milk, and ice. Blend until creamy and well combined.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Variations:
You can replace the condensed milk with sugar or agave, and the sparkling water with lemon-lime soda if you prefer a sweeter twist. This base recipe also works beautifully with other fruits—try using oranges, pineapple, or green grapes for a refreshing change.
What is Brazilian Creamy Limeade?
Despite the name “Swiss,” this is a classic Brazilian drink made by blending limes with their peel (zest included) to extract the intense essential oils, mixed with ice and water. It is traditionally blended and strained for a smooth texture.
There are several versions, but the one enriched with sweetened condensed milk is by far the most popular and creamy variation (Source: Wikipedia).
