There are many types of focaccia, and it is a truly versatile dish. Today, we are going to prepare a delicious version: herb focaccia. Beyond its taste, it’s one of those recipes that fills your entire home with an amazing aroma. Let’s get baking!
Ingredients for Herb Focaccia:
- 1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil;
- 1/2 cup chopped fresh herbs (rosemary, parsley, basil, chives);
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour;
- 1 1/2 cups lukewarm water;
- 0.5 oz (approx. 1 tbsp) active dry yeast;
- 2 tsp sugar;
- 1 tsp salt;
- Oil for greasing;
- Olive oil for brushing;
- Coarse sea salt for sprinkling.
How to make Herb Focaccia:
- In a blender, combine the water, yeast, sugar, and salt;
- Add the olive oil and fresh herbs, and pulse briefly to combine;
- Transfer the mixture to a large bowl and gradually add the flour, kneading until the dough no longer sticks to your hands;
- Add more flour if needed;
- Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let it rest for 45 minutes;
- Using a rolling pin, roll the dough into a rectangular shape;
- Let it rest for another 15 minutes;
- Transfer to an oiled baking sheet and use your fingertips to press dimples all over the surface of the focaccia;
- Brush with olive oil and sprinkle with coarse sea salt and extra herbs if desired;
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for about 10 minutes or until golden brown;
- Let it rest for a few minutes inside the turned-off oven;
- Enjoy!
