  • 1/2 cup (approx. 130ml) warm milk
  • 1 1/8 teaspoons active dry yeast (half a standard 1/4 oz packet)
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil (or 4 tablespoons melted butter)
  • Approximately 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (amount may vary)
  • 1 egg yolk mixed with a splash of water (for egg wash)

How to make Fluffy Potato Rolls:

  1. Boil the potatoes until very tender. Mash them while still warm and mix in 2 tablespoons of butter to prevent drying. Set aside.
  2. In a bowl, combine the warm milk with the yeast, salt, and sugar. Let it sit for a few minutes until it gets foamy.
  3. Add the egg and oil (or melted butter) to the milk mixture. Mix well.
  4. Gradually add the flour, mixing until the dough starts to pull away from your hands. The flour amount may vary, so add it slowly until you reach the right consistency.
  5. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  6. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise until doubled in size (about 40 minutes to 1 hour).
  7. Divide the dough into small portions and shape into balls. Place the balls on a greased baking sheet, leaving some space between them.
  8. Brush the rolls with the egg wash for a golden finish.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for about 30 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown.
