Ingredients for the Heart of Palm Pie:
Filling:
- 2 cups canned hearts of palm, chopped
- 4 tomatoes, peeled, seeded, and chopped
- Fresh parsley and scallions, to taste
- Hot sauce, to taste
- Salt, to taste
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
Batter:
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 packets (approx. 14g) active dry yeast
How to Make Heart of Palm Pie:
Filling:
- In a pan, add the oil, hearts of palm, chopped tomatoes, fresh parsley/scallions, hot sauce, and salt. Sauté well.
- Set aside.
Batter:
- In a blender, add the eggs, oil, milk, salt, sugar, and yeast. Blend to combine.
- Add the all-purpose flour.
- Blend everything very well until a smooth batter forms.
- Grease a baking dish and pour in half of the batter.
- Distribute the filling evenly, then cover with the remaining batter.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for about 30 minutes.
- Let it cool slightly before carefully removing from the pan.
