Popcorn is a fantastic snack, especially when you’re looking for a healthier alternative to processed, store-bought chips. It all comes down to how we prepare it and the ingredients we use. Today, we’re sharing a recipe for anti-inflammatory popcorn—it’s delicious, nutritious, and incredibly easy to make. Let’s get to the recipe!
Ingredients for Anti-Inflammatory Popcorn:
- 1/4 cup popcorn kernels;
- 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil;
- Salt to taste;
- 1 pinch turmeric powder;
- 1 pinch black pepper;
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder.
How to make Anti-Inflammatory Popcorn:
- Place a pot with a lid on the stove and add the popcorn kernels (no oil at this stage, just the kernels);
- Turn the heat to medium. Every 10 seconds, give the pot a gentle shake to ensure even popping. Keep doing this until the popping slows down significantly;
- Watch closely, and turn off the heat as soon as the popping stops to prevent burning;
- Transfer the popcorn to a large bowl and drizzle with the extra-virgin olive oil;
- Add salt to taste;
- Sprinkle in the black pepper, turmeric, and onion powder;
- Toss the popcorn well until all the seasoning is evenly distributed;
- That’s it! Enjoy your healthy snack!
Pro Tip:
If you want a larger batch of popcorn, make it in multiple rounds. I don’t recommend overcrowding the pot, as the goal is to pop the kernels without oil, which requires more space for them to expand properly.
