Ingredients for Brazilian Beef Stroganoff:
- 2.2 lbs (1kg) of beef (sirloin or tenderloin recommended), cut into thin strips;
- 1 jar (approx. 8 oz) of sliced mushrooms;
- 2 containers (approx. 2 cups total) heavy cream or table cream;
- 3 medium yellow onions, finely diced;
- Salt to taste;
- Black pepper to taste;
- 3 tomatoes, peeled, seeded, and finely diced;
- 3 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil;
- 2 tbsp ketchup;
How to make Beef Stroganoff:
- Slice the beef into thin, bite-sized strips.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the beef strips to the skillet and sear until browned.
- Add the diced onion to the pan with the beef and sauté until translucent.
- Let the mixture cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally until the meat is tender.
- Stir in the ketchup and mix well.
- Add the mushrooms and cook for another 3 to 5 minutes.
- Check that the sauce is bubbling and flavorful, then turn off the heat.
- Stir in the heavy cream. Mix gently until the sauce becomes smooth and homogeneous.
