Ingredients for Cinnamon Bread:
- 1 Egg
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour (approx. 300g)
- 1 pinch of salt to enhance flavor
- Cinnamon and sugar to taste (for the filling)
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
- 1 egg yolk mixed with 1 teaspoon of water (for egg wash)
How to Make Cinnamon Bread:
- In a bowl, mix 2 cups (250g) of the flour with the yeast and set aside.
- In a blender, combine the milk, oil, egg, sugar, and salt.
- Add the liquid mixture to the bowl with the flour and yeast and mix well.
- Gradually add the remaining flour until the dough is homogeneous and begins to pull away from your hands.
- Add more flour as needed if the dough is too sticky.
- Transfer the dough to a smooth, floured surface and knead well for about 15 minutes.
- Continue adding small amounts of flour if the dough is still sticking.
- After kneading, the dough should be smooth and aerated.
- Test it: poke the dough with your finger; if it springs back, it is ready.
- Cover the dough with a cloth or plastic wrap and let it rise for about one hour, or until doubled in size.
- Transfer the dough to a floured board and roll it out into a rectangle.
- If you prefer, divide the dough into two to make smaller rectangles.
- Spread the melted butter over the surface and sprinkle with the cinnamon and sugar mixture.
- Roll it up like a jelly roll.
- Cut the roll into 10 slices, each about two fingers wide.
- Place the rolls in a greased and floured baking pan.
- Let them rest in a warm, draft-free place for 40 minutes to 1 hour, or until doubled in size again.
- Brush each roll with the egg yolk and water wash.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 425°F (220°C) for 30 minutes.
- Your cinnamon bread is ready to serve!
