Today we’re sharing an amazing stuffed bun recipe that’s super simple and versatile. These buns are perfect for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or even as a snack for work or school. Let’s dive into the recipe!

Ingredients for stuffed buns:

  • 1 tablespoon of extra-virgin olive oil;
  • 10g active dry yeast;
  • 1 teaspoon of salt;
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar;
  • Water (as needed);
  • 4 smashed garlic cloves;
  • Chopped fresh parsley to taste;
  • Olive oil to taste;
  • 2 cups (8 oz) all-purpose flour;
  • 1/2 cup (4 oz) milk;
  • 7 ounces of ham slices;
  • 7 ounces of mozzarella slices.

How to prepare stuffed buns:

  1. In a bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar, and yeast, mixing well;
  2. Add the milk and olive oil, mix with your hands, and start kneading;
  3. Gradually add water and incorporate into the mixture;
  4. Work the dough until it forms a smooth texture and no longer sticks to your hands;
  5. Do not add more water;
  6. On a lightly floured surface, knead for 10-15 minutes;
  7. The dough should become smooth and elastic;
  8. To test the dough, press your index finger into it. If it slowly springs back, it’s ready to rest;
  9. Let the dough rest in a warm place for about 40 minutes;
  10. The dough will double in size;
  11. Roll out the dough on a flat surface using a rolling pin;
  12. Mix garlic, parsley, and olive oil, then spread this mixture over the dough;
  13. Top with ham and mozzarella;
  14. Roll the dough into a log, sealing the edges firmly to prevent filling from spilling;
  15. Let the dough rest for an additional 30 minutes;
  16. Brush the top with extra-virgin olive oil;
  17. Bake in a preheated oven at 390°F for about 30 minutes;
  18. Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!

Tip:

Feel free to experiment with different fillings using the same dough base. You can also cut the dough into mini buns before baking. For a golden finish, brush with egg yolk instead of olive oil before baking. Try it out!
