Today, I’m sharing our special recipe for traditional Thai chicken that is guaranteed to impress your taste buds.
Ingredients for Thai Chicken:
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 fresh Thai chili peppers, minced
- 2 tbsp coconut oil
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp tamarind paste
- 1 tbsp red curry paste
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1/4 cup chicken broth
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish
How to Make Thai Chicken:
- Cut the chicken into small bite-sized cubes and set aside.
- Heat the coconut oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and sauté for a few minutes until soft and translucent.
- Add the garlic and Thai chili peppers, sautéing for another few minutes.
- Add the chicken to the pan and cook until lightly browned.
- Stir in the brown sugar, tamarind paste, and red curry paste, mixing well.
- Pour in the coconut milk and chicken broth, stirring until all ingredients are well combined.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for about 20 minutes, or until the sauce thickens and the chicken is cooked through.
- Season with salt to taste and garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
Tips and Suggestions:
- If you can’t find tamarind or red curry paste, you can substitute them with soy sauce and a pinch of cayenne pepper, respectively. Note that the flavor profile will differ slightly.
- For a milder dish, remove the seeds from the chili peppers before chopping.
- Serve over steamed jasmine rice or rice noodles for an authentic meal.
