We know that keeping leafy greens fresh to eat throughout the week isn’t always easy, but it is definitely possible. Today, we’re sharing a simple and effective way to keep lettuce fresh in the fridge. Let’s get started!

Ingredients to keep lettuce fresh in the fridge:

  • 1 Head of lettuce;
  • Water;
  • Salad spinner;
  • 2 sheets of paper towels.

How to keep lettuce fresh in the fridge:

  1. First, gently detach the lettuce leaves from the head;
  2. Next, wash them one by one, sanitizing them as you normally would;
  3. Place the leaves into the salad spinner;
  4. Spin the leaves until you have removed as much excess moisture as possible;
  5. Afterward, take a clean, dry kitchen towel or paper towels and carefully pat each leaf dry to ensure no moisture remains;
  6. Once dry, take an airtight food storage container;
  7. Place a paper towel at the bottom of the container and then layer the lettuce leaves on top of one another;
  8. Place another paper towel on top of the lettuce and seal the lid;
  9. Store it in the vegetable crisper drawer of your fridge to maintain the ideal humidity level;
  10. By doing this, the paper towels will absorb any excess moisture, keeping your lettuce crisp and fresh for the whole week.

Pro Tips:

Drying the leaves thoroughly is the most important step, as it ensures their longevity. Throughout the week, if you notice the paper towels have become too damp, feel free to swap them out for fresh ones.
