  • 2 tbsp red palm oil (azeite de dendê);
  • Fresh cilantro, to taste;
  • Salt, to taste;
  • 21 oz (600g) ripe tomatoes, peeled, seeded, and chopped;
  • 1 tbsp Bahian seasoning (tempero baiano);
  • 3 onions, finely chopped.

How to Make Easy Shrimp Moqueca:

  1. In a heavy-bottomed pot, sauté the onions in the oil over medium heat until translucent;
  2. Add the chopped tomatoes to the pot;
  3. Cook over medium heat until the tomatoes break down and form a sauce;
  4. Once the sauce is thick, stir in the red palm oil and coconut milk;
  5. Add the shrimp and fresh cilantro;
  6. Season with salt and the Bahian seasoning to taste;
  7. Cook the shrimp for 4 minutes, then turn off the heat;
  8. Serve warm with white rice and a fresh side salad.
