Strogonoff de frango com requeijão, um sabor surpreendente

This creamy chicken stroganoff with requeijão recipe we’re sharing today has an incredible flavor. It’s a simpler, cleaner way to prepare this classic dish, skipping the ketchup and mustard for a rich, velvety finish. Let’s get cooking!

Ingredients for Chicken Stroganoff with Requeijão:

  • 14 oz (approx. 400g) chicken breast, sliced into strips;
  • 1 cup light requeijão (or substitute with crème fraîche or cream cheese thinned with a splash of milk);
  • 1 tbsp butter;
  • 1 onion, diced;
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced;
  • Salt to taste;
  • Black pepper to taste;
  • Lemon pepper seasoning to taste (optional).

How to make Chicken Stroganoff with Requeijão:

  1. In a pan, add the butter and heat until melted.
  2. Add the chicken strips and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Season with salt, pepper, and lemon pepper (if using) and continue to brown.
  4. Once the chicken is well-browned, add the onion and garlic. Sauté until fragrant and soft (adding them now prevents the garlic from burning).
  5. Reduce the heat to low and fold in the requeijão. Mix well until it melts into a smooth sauce. Let it simmer gently for about 2 minutes, then turn off the heat.
  6. All done! Serve immediately. Enjoy!

Tips:

This is a unique, milder version of the classic. If you crave that traditional tangy flavor, feel free to stir in a tablespoon of ketchup and a teaspoon of mustard along with the requeijão.
