Ingredients for Roast Beef:

  • 1.75 lbs (800g) Eye of Round (whole cut);
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil;
  • Salt to taste;
  • Black pepper to taste;
  • Fresh rosemary to taste;
  • Dry spices of your choice to taste.

How to Make Roast Beef:

  1. On a cutting board, spread out all the dry seasonings you’ll be using;
  2. Sprinkle with salt;
  3. Roll the beef in the seasoning mixture until fully coated, including the ends;
  4. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or wide pan over medium-high heat;
  5. Sear the beef on all sides and ends until browned;
  6. Remove the beef from the skillet and place it in a roasting pan or baking dish;
  7. Roast in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for 15 minutes;
  8. Once out of the oven, let the meat rest for a few minutes before serving;
  9. Transfer to a cutting board, slice thinly, and enjoy!
  10. Bon appétit!

Pro Tip:

For the best results, we recommend bringing the beef to room temperature before cooking. Take it out of the refrigerator and let it sit for about 30 minutes; this helps achieve a much juicier result.

Did you know?

Despite the name, “roast beef” didn’t always strictly refer to oven-roasted meat. The term comes from the French expression “rôtir” (to roast) and “bœuf” (beef). Traditionally, it was prepared by roasting a large piece of beef on a spit over an open fire. Today, while it is most commonly oven-roasted, the term remains a classic staple for a perfectly cooked, tender beef roast, usually served in thin slices.
