Waffles are delicious in countless ways, but we usually think of them with sweet toppings like honey or jam. Today, we’re changing things up with a savory breakfast recipe. This Ham and Cheese Stuffed Waffle is today’s go-to meal!

Ingredients for the Ham and Cheese Stuffed Waffle:

To make a sandwich-style meal, you will need to prepare this batter twice to create two individual waffles.

  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour;
  • 1 pinch of salt;
  • 1 egg;
  • 1 tsp psyllium husk;
  • 1 tbsp almond flour;
  • 1/8 tsp baking powder (or a small pinch);
  • Sliced cheese of your choice to taste;
  • Sliced deli ham to taste.

How to make the Ham and Cheese Stuffed Waffle:

  1. In a bowl, beat the egg until well combined;
  2. Add the flours and stir until incorporated;
  3. Stir in the psyllium husk and salt, mixing well;
  4. Finally, gently fold in the baking powder;
  5. Pour the batter into a preheated waffle iron and cook for about 7 minutes or until golden brown;
  6. Once you have prepared both waffles, place the cheese and ham on one of them;
  7. Top with the second waffle;
  8. Place the sandwich back onto the hot waffle iron (do not close the lid) and wait for the residual heat to melt the cheese.

Grab a coffee and enjoy!

A quick fact about ham:

Ham is a staple of charcuterie, traditionally made from the hind leg of a pig. It is cured—usually with salt—and sometimes seasoned or smoked. Depending on the curing process, drying time, and storage conditions, ham can maintain its quality for long periods and be enjoyed in sandwiches, as an appetizer, or as an ingredient in various culinary preparations.
