Easy Oven-Baked Sardines

Sunday is here! If you are wondering what to make for a cozy family lunch, we have a wonderful suggestion for you. Take a trip to the market, grab some fresh fish, and let’s make delicious oven-baked sardines!

Ingredients for Oven-Baked Sardines:

  • 1 Lemon;
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil;
  • Sweet paprika to taste;
  • Salt to taste;
  • 4 fresh sardine fillets (or whole cleaned sardines);
  • Potatoes for serving, to taste.

How to make Oven-Baked Sardines:

  1. First, whisk together the juice of one lemon with salt to taste and two tablespoons of olive oil.
  2. Place the sardines in the mixture, ensuring they are well coated.
  3. Let them marinate for about 10 to 15 minutes.
  4. Take a baking dish and coat the bottom with a generous amount of olive oil.
  5. Arrange the sardines on top of the oil.
  6. Pour any remaining marinade over the fish.
  7. Surround the sardines with the sliced potatoes.
  8. Sprinkle everything with sweet paprika and/or other herbs of your choice, and adjust the salt if needed.
  9. Place the sardines in a preheated oven at 425°F (approx. 220°C) for about 20 minutes, covering the dish with aluminum foil.
  10. Remove the aluminum foil, lower the heat to 375°F (190°C), and roast for another 5 minutes to finish.
