- Orange slices to taste;
- Ice cubes to taste.
How to make a Red Wine Caipirinha:
- Use a 7 oz (200ml) glass;
- Muddle 3 of the strawberries with the sugar at the bottom of the glass;
- Fill the glass with your desired amount of ice;
- Add the lime and orange slices;
- Dice the remaining strawberry into small pieces and add them to the glass;
- Pour in the wine to fill the glass;
- Use a long spoon to stir well until the sugar is completely dissolved;
- Garnish the rim of the glass if desired;
- Serve and enjoy!
Expert Tips:
For a lighter drink, choose a less full-bodied wine, like an inexpensive table wine; it pairs beautifully with the strawberries and sugar. Bolder, full-bodied wines like Cabernet Sauvignon or Malbec will make the drink stronger and more intense—it really comes down to your personal preference.
Did you know?
While everyone knows wine is made from grapes, many don’t realize they aren’t the same table grapes you find at the grocery store. Wine grapes are from the Vitis vinifera species; they have thicker skins, are smaller, very sweet, and contain seeds. There are over 1,300 different varieties worldwide, some globally famous and others specific to certain countries or regions.
To navigate the world of wine, you should get familiar with terms like “Varietal” and “Assemblage” (also known as a Blend). Interesting, right? (Source: Wikipedia).
