Ingredients for Homemade Chicken Burgers:
- 7 oz (approx. 200g) chicken breast, finely diced;
- 1 large egg;
- 1 tablespoon oat flour;
- Salt to taste;
- Black pepper to taste;
- Fresh parsley, chopped, to taste.
How to Make Homemade Chicken Burgers:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the diced chicken, egg, oat flour, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix well until everything is incorporated.
- To shape the patties, find a round mold, such as a medium-sized lid or a dedicated burger press.
- Line the inside of the lid with plastic wrap.
- Add the chicken mixture into the mold, pressing down firmly so it holds its shape and fills the mold evenly.
- Carefully lift the patty out using the plastic wrap and set it aside.
- Place the patties in the freezer for about 10 minutes to firm up.
- After 10 minutes, heat a skillet over medium heat with a drizzle of extra-virgin olive oil.
- Carefully place the chicken burger in the hot skillet.
- Pan-sear on both sides until golden brown and cooked through.
- Your chicken burger is ready to serve! Enjoy!
Tips and Variations:
For a crispy version, you can bread the patties. After taking them out of the freezer, dip each patty in all-purpose flour, then into a beaten egg, and finally coat with panko or breadcrumbs before pan-frying. It’s delicious!
Did You Know?
While the chicken burger has become a global favorite in recent decades, the original chicken burger concept is often credited to American chef Louis Lassen in 1949. Lassen created the chicken patty as a lighter, healthier alternative to traditional beef burgers to satisfy his customers’ requests.
