Ingredients for Baked Crab Mac and Cheese:

  • 1 package (16 oz) elbow macaroni, cooked;
  • 4 cups whole milk;
  • 7 tablespoons unsalted butter;
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour;
  • 1/2 tablespoon salt;
  • 8 slices cheddar cheese, chopped;
  • Grated Parmesan cheese to taste, for topping;
  • 10 oz (approx. 300g) lump crab meat;
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs.

How to make Baked Crab Mac and Cheese:

  1. Cook the macaroni in a pot of salted boiling water according to package instructions, then drain;
  2. Set the macaroni aside;
  3. To make the béchamel sauce, melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat;
  4. Add the flour and whisk with the butter for 4 minutes, until lightly golden;
  5. Increase the heat to medium-high and slowly add the milk, whisking constantly;
  6. Cook for 5 minutes until the sauce thickens;
  7. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C);
  8. Add the cheddar cheese to the béchamel sauce and stir until well incorporated;
  9. In a large bowl, mix the cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce and the crab meat until well combined;
  10. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and sprinkle the breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan on top;
  11. Bake for 40 minutes;
  12. Let it rest for a few minutes and enjoy!
