Make a delicious lunch quickly and easily with this recipe! We’re sharing a simple hack for easy pasta roll-ups using store-bought pastry dough (often called “massa de pastel” in Brazil). Let’s get started!

Ingredients for Easy Pasta Roll-Ups:

  • Fresh basil leaves, to taste;
  • 2 tomatoes, diced;
  • Dried oregano, to taste;
  • Cream cheese (or Brazilian requeijão), to taste;
  • 1 pouch (approx. 8 oz) of tomato sauce;
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream;
  • 7 oz (200g) mozzarella cheese, sliced or shredded;
  • 1 package refrigerated fresh pastry dough (or fresh pasta sheets).

How to Make Pasta Roll-Ups:

  1. Start by unrolling your pastry dough on a clean surface.
  2. Spread a thin layer of cream cheese over the entire surface of the dough.
  3. Place the mozzarella cheese over the cream cheese, covering the dough evenly.
  4. Sprinkle with a bit of dried oregano over the cheese.
  5. Distribute the fresh basil leaves across the top.
  6. Add the diced tomatoes evenly over the cheese.
  7. Carefully roll the dough into a tight log.
  8. Cut the log into 1-inch thick rounds and arrange them standing up in a baking dish.
  9. In a separate bowl, whisk together the tomato sauce and heavy cream. Pour this mixture evenly over the pasta rolls.
  10. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for about 20 minutes. Enjoy!

Tip:

This recipe is incredibly versatile! Feel free to customize the filling with your favorite ingredients like ham, sautéed spinach, or sun-dried tomatoes.
