This Ninho Milk cake in a jar (Brazilian milk powder cake) recipe is absolutely incredible. It’s perfect for a sweet treat at home, a crowd-pleasing dessert for parties, or even a profitable side hustle. Let’s get cooking!

Ingredients for Ninho Milk Cake in a Jar:

  • 1 pre-baked plain vanilla sponge cake (or pound cake);
  • 1 can (approx. 14 oz) sweetened condensed milk;
  • 7 tbsp (approx. 100g) unsalted butter, softened;
  • 1 carton (7 oz) table cream (or heavy cream);
  • 1.5 cups (180g) powdered milk (Nido/Nestlé brand preferred);
  • ¾ cup (180ml) whole milk;
  • 1.3 lbs (600g) fresh strawberries, chopped.

How to Make Ninho Milk Cake in a Jar:

  1. To make the soaking syrup, place 3 tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk into a squeeze bottle;
  2. Add the whole milk;
  3. Close the bottle tightly and shake until well combined and smooth;
  4. Set aside;
  5. In a stand mixer or using a hand mixer, combine the remaining sweetened condensed milk and butter. Start on low speed and gradually increase;
  6. Once creamy and smooth, add the powdered milk and table cream;
  7. Repeat the mixing process: start on low speed to incorporate, then increase to medium-high to whip until aerated;
  8. Beat for about 2 minutes, then chill in the refrigerator;
  9. To assemble, crumble the pre-baked cake into small pieces;
  10. Start with a thin layer of the Ninho milk cream at the bottom of your jars;
  11. Add a layer of chopped strawberries;
  12. Follow with a layer of crumbled cake. Drizzle with the soaking syrup, then repeat the layers until the jar is full. Top with a final layer of Ninho milk cream;
  13. Optional: Dust with extra powdered milk and top with a few strawberry slices for presentation;
  14. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Tips for Success:

For the best texture, use a light sponge cake (génoise or classic yellow cake), which crumbles easily and absorbs the syrup perfectly. We have a great sponge cake recipe here on the blog—check it out!
