We all know hot chocolate is a delight and a nearly universal favorite, especially during the colder months of the year. But today, we’re changing things up a bit. We introduce to you our creamy white hot chocolate—try it, it’s absolutely delicious. Let’s get to the recipe!
Ingredients for white hot chocolate:
- 1 3/4 cups (approx. 400ml) whole milk
- 7 oz (200g) high-quality white chocolate, chopped
- 1/2 cup (approx. 150g) heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- Whipped cream, for serving (optional)
- White chocolate shavings, for topping (optional)
How to make white hot chocolate:
- In a saucepan, add the milk.
- Next, stir in the vanilla extract, heavy cream, and cornstarch.
- Whisk everything together very well until the cornstarch is completely dissolved.
- Place the pan over medium heat, stirring constantly to prevent any lumps from forming.
- Once it starts to simmer, reduce the heat to low and add the white chocolate.
- Continue to stir well until the chocolate has melted completely.
- Once it begins to simmer again, let it cook for about one minute, then remove from heat.
- Pour the creamy white hot chocolate into your favorite mug.
- Top with whipped cream if desired, and finish with a sprinkle of white chocolate shavings.
- Enjoy!
Pro Tip:
For an extra layer of flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon powder after removing the drink from the heat.
Did you know?
White chocolate is technically not “true” chocolate because it doesn’t contain cocoa solids. It is made from cocoa butter, sugar, and milk powder. That’s why many people find that white chocolate has a flavor profile closer to condensed milk than traditional dark or milk chocolate.
