When the weather gets chilly, a rich, creamy hot chocolate is the go-to comfort drink. But what about when it’s hot outside and you’re craving that same velvety, chocolatey indulgence? You don’t have to give up your favorite treat just because of the summer heat! Today, we’re making a refreshing creamy iced chocolate drink. Let’s get started!
Ingredients for Creamy Iced Chocolate:
- 1/4 cup (approx. 60g) granulated sugar;
- 2 1/2 cups (600ml) milk of your choice;
- 1 1/4 cups (300g) heavy cream;
- 1 cup (approx. 100g) 70% dark cocoa powder.
How to Prepare Creamy Iced Chocolate:
- In a blender, combine the milk and heavy cream and pulse until well incorporated.
- Add the sugar and cocoa powder, blending until smooth and fully dissolved.
- Pour the mixture into a deep saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Stir constantly to ensure it doesn’t stick or burn at the bottom.
- Allow it to thicken slightly, but be careful not to overcook.
- Turn off the heat and let the mixture cool completely.
- Pour into a pitcher for easier handling, then transfer to a glass bottle or a sealable jar.
- Refrigerate until well-chilled. Enjoy!
Did You Know?
Cocoa powder is made from ground cocoa beans with the cocoa butter removed. Unlike standard chocolate drink mixes, pure cocoa powder contains no added sugar. It is a versatile ingredient, often used in desserts, brownies, and decadent hot chocolates. It has a distinct bitter flavor and should not be confused with sweetened “drinking chocolate” or instant cocoa mixes, which contain significantly more sugar and less actual cocoa (Source: Wikipedia).
