Did You Know?
Cornmeal (fubá) is a fine powder made from ground corn or rice, commonly used in Brazilian cuisine. It’s essential for making cornmeal cakes (bolo de fubá), a traditional dessert during June festivals (festas juninas) alongside “angu” (cornmeal pudding).
Brought by Portuguese settlers but popularized in the 18th century by cowboys (tropeiros) as a substitute for cassava flour (Wikipedia).
